The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well'HippocratesI was inspired to base this newsletter on 'Gut Health' after watching Kathie Sw

Gut health is becoming an ever increasing topic of concern for many people these days. Many of my clients experience digestive problems such as bloating, gas, IBS, diarrhea, stomach cramps after eating. Other signs your gut is in need of extra attention is; fatigue, difficulty sleeping, food allergies & sensitivies, moodiness, anxiety & depression & skin problems.

These signs & symptoms can have a real impact on every day life for people. For some people there is nothing worse than getting an IBS flare up when you are out and about... sh*t where is the nearest loo!! Or having to strategically think about what to wear when you go out for dinner is an annoyance, as you worry about feeling bloated and uncomfortable. Or maybe you are suffering terribly with brain fog, anxiety or depression which effects your daily life. Completing simple tasks can be overwhelming or difficult, or dreading social engagements as the anxiety creeps in.

Poor gut health is an imbalance of bacteria in the gut. This is called 'dysbiosis' . It means there is an imbalance of good bacteria to bad bacteria. If there is too much of the 'bad' bacteria this can cause problems in the gut. Factors, such as a breastfeeding, vaginal birth v's c-section delivery, poor diet, multiple use of antibiotics, exposure to environmental toxins, stress can all take a toll on our guts.

Symptoms are your body's way of talking to you. It's letting you know that it's out of balance and feeling unhappy. If we chose to ignore these niggles, signs and our bodies symptoms you run the risk of them getting worse, or developing more issues.

Did you know, there are more nerve endings in the gut than in the central nervous system? Or the fact that 70-80% of your immune cells are in your gut? And that we produce serotonin in the gut? Serotonin is the chemical we produce that boosts our mood levels. Based on these facts, you can see how close the connection is between gut health and common health issues.

Fear not! There is so much you can do to help support your gut health. Here are some useful gut supporting tips:

Focus on how you eat!
- mindful eating. Turn off any distractions while you eat.
- slow down eating. Make it a ritual/ a pleasurable experience
- chew your food into small bits (don't hoover your food!). When we chew we generate more saliva. Saliva is like liquid gold as it starts the process of breaking down the food.

Fibre is nourishment for the flora in the gut, so load up your plate with veggies and fruits

Supplement your diet with probiotics & prebiotic

Add fermented foods to your diet (saukraut, kimchi, kefir, pickled food etc)

Reduce and eliminate stress. Stress is poison for the body. Re-evaluate where you can make changes in your life that feel heavy, draining and cause you upset and stress.

Join me on your health journey and download my FREE guide to 5 Easy Steps to Uplevel Your Health… GRAB YOURS HERE

Our relationships to the people closest to us have a great influence over our health and well being.

Healthy relationships have the ability to soothe, nourish, inspire and relax our nervous system.
