This topic is about making movement a habit, not something you have to do or schedule into your week.<br \/><br \/>We often label the movement of our bodies as 'exercise'. However, for some people (probably quite a few of us right?!) the word 'exercise' can trigger feelings of reluctance, resistance or dread or something we 'have' to do! We conjure up images of sweating profusely, in pain and pushing yourself harder to reach that fitness goal.\u00a0And quite often that's where it ends. Nope! Not got time for that today. Or I will start tomorrow or next week, which invariably doesn't happen. This is NOT where I am heading with this topic.<br \/><br \/>If we come\u00a0back to the word 'movement', words like gentle, accessible\u00a0and perhaps more appealing may spring to mind? By simply using this word \u2018movement\u2019 we change our perspective, feeling more open and positive to getting our bodies moving, therefore more likely to take action!<br \/><br \/>By consciously bringing in more simple movement habits into our daily lives can be a real game changer. They become enjoyable and a sustainable part of our lifestyles and ultimately contribute to our overall health and well being.<br \/><br \/>Daily movement habits are for EVERYONE!<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'lucida sans unicode', 'lucida grande', sans-serif;\"><br \/>You may be someone who needs to get fit. If this is the case, this is the perfect foundation for you to create for yourself. Or maybe just by consciously including daily movement habits supports and compliments your existing fitness routine.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>If you have read any of my other blogs, you will know that we are all bio-individuals, so choose\u00a0movement habits that sit in alignment with who you are.<\/span><\/p><p><\/p><p><span style=\"font-family:'lucida sans unicode', 'lucida grande', sans-serif;\">Implement a new movement habit\u00a0into your daily\/ weekly routine this coming week. Be mindful to choose one that you would like to continue forward into the weeks ahead.<br \/><br \/>Below is some suggested inspiration for you to take action on...<br \/><br \/>Go with what you feel intuitively drawn to:<\/span><br \/><br \/><br \/><strong>MOVEMENT<br \/><br \/>1. Stand up every 30\u201360 minutes<\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;\">Particularly if you sit for long periods of time. Or an office worker. Stand up. Stretch your body.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/><strong>2. Take the stairs rather than the elevator<\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;\">One of my favs! (Unfortunately for my son, not his favourite)<\/span><br \/><br \/><strong>3.Aim to walk at least 10 minutes a day<\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;\">Every morning first thing would be ideal. Easy, accessible and realistically doable for most of us.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><br \/><br \/><strong>4. Sign up for something new. Challenge yourself to try a new activity<\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;\">It could be a new activity each week. Walk. Jog. Bowling. Tennis. Yoga. Dance class. Horse ridding. Sailing. Wall climbing. Cycling. Do it with friends and make it even more enjoyable.<\/span><br \/><br \/><strong>5. Choose activities you love<\/strong><br \/><span style=\"font-family:Helvetica;\">This is key in making a habit sustainable.
